How are payments handled?
Cash, Check, Charter Funds, Venmo, and Zelle are all acceptable forms of payment. If your child is through a Charter School then you submit monthly POs for lessons. If you are paying out of pocket, payment is due on the first of the Month, or if paying cash, then on the first lesson of the month.
What if I have to cancel a lesson?
Lessons can be made up within the month they were cancelled as my availability allows. Makeup lessons are meant to be on a separate day, not to replace a different lesson in the next month. Makeup lessons do not roll over to separate months. Any lessons I have to cancel will be either made-up or refunded. For a more in-depth explanation, see my studio policies here
What age do you teach?
I teach all ages, but recommend that for children they are over the age of 5. If they are 5 or 6 years old, my only requirement is that they’re able to sit still for 30 minutes.
How much should my child practice?
I recommend a minimum of 20-30 minutes 5 days a week. For beginner students, sometimes that isn’t realistic, and for intermediate and advanced students, up to 45 minutes and an hour would be better. If you’re practicing correctly, what you put into music you’ll get out of it.
Do you teach other instruments?
I only teach piano at the moment. However, I know many teachers in the area that teach Guitar, Violin, Vocal Lessons, etc., and would be happy to make a recommendation.
Do you teach in-home lessons?
I do teach some students in their home. Depending on where you live, there probably will be an extra travel fee. If you are interested in finding out more about that, please contact me!
What if I’m late to my lesson?
I understand that traffic, busyness, and life happens. Please communicate if you are running behind more then 5 minutes. Your reserved time slot is time that you’ve paid me for, so you can expect me to still teach the lesson even if you are late. However, if the student is more than 15 minutes late with no communication, I will assume you aren’t coming, and may not still be at the studio.
Do I need a piano to start lessons?
I do require students to have a piano or keyboard to begin lessons, as practice at home is important for progress. A grand or upright piano is prefferable, but if studnets have a keyboard it should be at least an 88-key keyboard with weighted keys.
Do you do recitals?
Yes, we do bi-annual recitals at the Antelope Valley College recital room. Recitals are normally in April and November. Students are not required to participate, but are highly encouraged to. There is no cost to participate.
