Hi! My name is Jacob Counts, and I’m a follower of Christ, worship leader, and piano teacher. I’m 21 years old and have been playing piano since the age of 3. My dad taught me for 15 years, until I began studying at Master’s University in 2022.
At college the Lord worked mightily in my heart, as professors constantly challenged me, and encouraged me in my relationship with Christ. There were many moments of highs and lows, but through all of it I learned the importance of relying on God rather then myself.
Since graduating in May 2025, my piano studio has grown from just a couple of regular students to over 35 students during the school year. I was also hired in September as the Assistant Worship Leader at Faith Community Church.
My goals in lessons with my students are three fold. The first goal is that I want my students to have fun and love music. Music should not be boring, or dull, and I want students to enjoy themselves. Seoncdly, students should learn. I don’t want my students to learn and grown in their knowledge of music, but to actually be able to explain the things they learn. Lastly, I want my students to learn how to make beautiful music. Not only should they be able to play the piano, they should be able to make music that is alive – learning to play with feeling.
